Partnerships & licensing.

PAPER TRAILS™ works with partners who share our standards. Editorial independence is not for sale, and saying so up front saves everyone a conversation.

Sponsors are business partners, not editorial partners.

No sponsor approves, rejects, reviews, or influences a story, sees an edit before publication, or requests favourable coverage. Anyone who asks for that is declined, and the money is not worth the exception.

What partners get

01

Placement in the story

A sponsor read in the host's own voice, placed where it doesn't interrupt the emotional centre of a story. Never before the cold open. Never mid-answer.

02

Placement in the archive

Recognition on watchpapertrails.com as a PAPER TRAILS™ partner, alongside the stories your support made possible. The archive is permanent, so the placement doesn't disappear when a campaign ends.

03

A brand that was careful

Association with work that verifies before it publishes and turns down stories that would perform well. That discipline is the asset, and it's why the association is worth something.

How we decide

Every partnership is measured against five questions before we say yes.

  • Does it align with the mission?
  • Would our audience expect this?
  • Would we personally use or recommend it?
  • Could this partnership damage trust?
  • Would we still make this decision if nobody knew how much we were paid?

If any answer raises real concern, we don’t take it. We also don’t work with predatory lending, get-rich-quick programmes, or anyone whose business depends on people not reading carefully.

Licensing and co-production

PAPER TRAILS™ may license interviews and documentaries to broadcasters and streaming services where the editorial integrity of the work is preserved. Co-productions are possible when creative control is clearly defined in advance.
